Keeping tip records for taxes

Updated September 12, 2026

This is not tax advice

TrackMyTips is a personal log of shifts you record. It is not tax software, not a filing service, and not a substitute for IRS or local rules or a tax professional. The in-app Income History screen says the same thing: it summarizes earnings based on what you entered and does not provide tax or financial advice.

What a useful personal log includes

For each shift you care about later: date, clock in/out, role (Hostess, Expo, Server, or Bartender), tip amounts, optional notes, Total Tip-Out if you gave money away, and the wage that was in effect when you worked. TrackMyTips stores those. It does not split cash versus card as its own field — if you need that distinction, put it in a tip note.

Income History in the app

Reports → Income History totals completed shifts you recorded for a year, a month, or a custom date range. You can export a PDF titled as a personal income record. The PDF carries the same disclaimer as the screen. Totals only include completed shifts in the period you picked.

That export is a copy of your log. It is not a tax form and not a conclusion about what you must report.

What TrackMyTips stores — and how to delete it

Shifts, tip amounts and notes, optional tip-outs, wages, optional workplaces, goals, and (if you run it) AI analyses live in your account. Signed-in iOS users delete from Settings → Delete Account. Guest accounts do not show that button: Log Out deletes the guest account and its data. If you cannot open the app, use the delete account page. See the Privacy Policy for storage, analytics, and optional AI.

Professional help

For filing, reporting, or estimated tax questions, use official guidance or a qualified professional. Do not treat in-app totals, Income History PDFs, or AI insights as tax conclusions. If you need a copy of your data, contact support in the app or support@trackmytips.app.
