Clock in as Server
On Home, choose Server and clock in. If you scheduled that lunch or dinner already, Home can offer the scheduled shift so the worked record keeps the role. The hourly wage saved for Server in Settings is copied onto the shift at that moment. A later raise does not rewrite it. A double — Server for lunch, Bartender for close — is two clock-ins, because the app keeps one shift in progress at a time.
Log tips while you still remember the table
Each tip is an amount, an optional note, and a timestamp. Servers usually have many of these in one shift. Add Tip can take up to 30 amounts in one sitting, with $5, $10, and $20 shortcuts, and one note applied to that batch. There is no cash-versus-card field. If you want that split later, write “cash” or “card” in the note, or the table number.
Gross tips are the sum of those amounts. If you only remember the night after you get home, Shifts → Add Shift can store a lump total as a single tip marked “Manual entry total.” Per-table rows are the better record. A night total still feeds net tips and $/hour.
The tip-out prompt is for this role
After you clock out as Server, the shift list can ask “Did you tip out?” Tip-out here is one dollar total for the shift: what you gave bussers, the bar, hosts, and anyone else, added up by you. The app does not apply a house percentage and does not store a per-person split. Enter the dollars. Enter $0 if you tipped no one. Leave it blank only when you have not answered yet. Blank still counts as $0 in the earnings math, so an unanswered prompt makes take-home look like gross tips.
Net tips = total tips − that Total Tip-Out. Wages = hours × the Server wage stored on the shift. Total earnings = net tips + wages. Per hour = total earnings ÷ hours.
One server night in numbers
Friday: six hours, $8/hour stored on the shift, $210 in tips, $40 tipped out. Wages are $48. Net tips are $170. Total earnings are $218. The rate is about $36.33/hour. Drop the $40 tip-out and the same close reads $258.00 total, exactly $43.00/hour, which is the drawer and not the money you kept.
A slower Tuesday on the same wage — five hours, $90 in tips, $20 tipped out — is $40 in wages, $70 in net tips, $110 total, exactly $22.00/hour. Those two nights together are 11 hours and $328, about $29.82/hour. The Friday rate and the week rate are different questions. Reports answers the week. This page’s single-night math answers Friday.

A house percentage is still a dollar amount
Some floors tip out a percent of sales or of tips. TrackMyTips does not store sales, covers, or a house percentage, and it will not compute one. You do that math, then type the dollars into Total Tip-Out.
On the Friday above, 18% of $210 is $37.80. Wages stay $48. Net tips are $172.20. Total earnings are $220.20, exactly $36.70/hour. The note on a tip row is the only place for a table number or a 4-top. There is no party-size field.
