TrackMyTips

TrackMyTips Features: Everything You Need to Track Your Earnings

TrackMyTips helps servers, bartenders, hostesses, expo staff, and other tipped workers record their shifts and understand their earnings. You clock in, log the tips you received, record what you tipped out, and the app shows what you kept: by day, across a week or a month, and as an hourly rate.

On the App Store and Google Play it is listed as Tip Tracker - TrackMyTips.

How TrackMyTips fits together

Set your usual roles, wages, and payday once. If you work more than one job, a workplace can use its own wages and payday. One job can stay on those defaults.

  1. Clock in. The shift stores your hours, the role you worked, the workplace if you picked one, and the hourly wage for that shift.
  2. Log tips and tip-out. Tips you received, minus what you gave coworkers, are the tips you kept.
  3. See the day. The calendar places each shift on its date and adds up that day’s earnings.
  4. Read your hourly rate. Reports add those wages and net tips, then divide by the hours you worked.
  5. Go further if you want to. A goal tracks progress toward an amount you choose. AI insights, only when you ask, look at a finished month or your longer history.

Every screen reads the same shifts.

The sections below explain each part. The guides linked from them cover the steps inside the app.

Easy Clock In/Out

Clocking in starts on Home. You choose the role you are working: Hostess, Expo, Server, or Bartender. Settings → Roles & Hourly Wages can also add up to four custom roles, each with its own default wage.

The wage saved on the shift comes from your default for that role, unless that workplace has its own wage for the role. Changing those settings later does not rewrite past shifts. If you edit the shift, you can change the wage stored on that shift. The app follows one shift at a time, so a lunch as a server and a close behind the bar stay two records, with their own hours, tips, and tip-outs.

You can schedule a shift in advance and clock in from that plan. The schedule keeps the role and the workplace. The wage is set when you clock in, not when you create the schedule. Afterward you can review the shift and correct the times, the role, the wage, the tips, or the tip-out.

On iPhone and iPad, an in-progress shift can appear in a Live Activity, and a This Week widget can show the current week on the Home Screen. Both are iOS only. On Android, clock-in works the same way inside the app.

Those hours and that wage are what later turn your tips into an hourly rate. How clock-in works covers wages, editing a shift, and logging the night as you go.

Tips and tip-outs

You can log tips during the shift, or enter a night total later if that is all you remember. Each tip is an amount, with an optional note. You can also mark it Cash, Card, or Split. Cash and Card mean the whole tip was that type. Split is one tip divided between cash and card. Leaving the classification unset is fine.

While a shift is in progress, Tip Drawer shows the tips entered so far and the running total. You can edit or delete a tip there without leaving Home.

Tip-out is the money you give coworkers. TrackMyTips stores one Total Tip-Out in dollars for the shift. You enter the amount you gave away. The app does not turn a house percentage into that number, and it does not split it by person.

Net tips are your tips minus that tip-out. Until you enter a tip-out, earnings use the full tip total. Server and bartender shifts can ask “Did you tip out?” after you clock out. Hostess and expo shifts do not ask, and any role can still record a tip-out. Money another role tipped out to you is a tip you log, not a tip-out.

Net tips plus your wages are the earnings the calendar and the reports use. How tips and tip-outs are logged is the full habit. The role guides show it for a server, bartender, hostess, or expo.

Workplaces

One job can stay on your defaults. Settings → Workplaces is there when a job should keep its own name, wages, or payday.

You can rename a workplace, archive it, and restore it. Archiving stops offering it for new shifts. Past shifts stay attached, and you can still filter Shifts and Reports by that workplace. Each workplace shows how many saved shifts it has.

Older shifts from before you used workplaces can show up as not assigned. Workplaces can tell you how many, and Review shifts opens that list so you can give each one a workplace.

Calendar with daily earnings

The Shifts tab is your history. Calendar switches between month and week. Tap a date to see that day’s shifts. Under the grid, the month or week shows days scheduled, days worked, and earnings. Those earnings are net tips plus wages. The hourly rate for the same days is on Reports.

List shows the same shifts in a timeline. That is where you add a shift after the fact, edit one, or open its stats.

You can also place upcoming work on the calendar, including a shift that repeats every week on the same weekday. A scheduled day is a plan. It counts as a day scheduled, and it adds earnings only after you work it. The calendar shows what you entered. It does not import a schedule from the restaurant.

The same role at two restaurants stays two shifts. Filter List or Calendar by workplace, including one you have archived, to see only that job. All still shows every shift.

The calendar and shift list guide covers both views, editing, and the weekly repeat.

True $/hour

$/hour is what you kept, divided by the hours you worked. What you kept is the wage saved on the shift plus your net tips.

  • Wages = hours worked × the wage saved on that shift
  • Net tips = tips − tip-out
  • Total earnings = net tips + wages
  • $/hour = total earnings ÷ hours

A five-hour shift with a $10 wage, $180 in tips, and a $30 tip-out is $50 in wages and $150 in net tips. Total earnings are $200, which is $40.00/hour. If that tip-out was never entered, the same shift counts all $180 in tips: $230 total, or $46.00/hour.

Reports cover This Week, Last Week, Last Month, and All Time. The rate for a range is all of the earnings in that range divided by all of the hours, so one short, busy shift does not stand in for the week. Filter to one workplace and those figures use that workplace’s shifts. You can also see tip-outs, your strongest and lightest shifts, a breakdown by role, and Tip Analysis for Cash, Card, and Unclassified. A Split tip counts in Cash and Card according to each portion. A week or a month can be compared with the period before it.

The hourly rate guide explains the report. The hourly rate calculator runs one shift through this formula.

Earnings Forecast

When a payday is set, Home can show an Earnings Forecast. It estimates from shifts you have already worked. It is not a paycheck, and it does not count a scheduled or repeating shift until you actually work it.

Your default payday applies unless a workplace has its own. If two jobs pay on different days, each one is estimated separately. Home shows the next payday and notes when another one is also coming. Open the forecast to see those sources on their own, so money from different paydays is not folded into one number.

You can choose how much recent history the estimate uses. If there is not enough history yet, the forecast asks you to keep tracking instead of inventing a figure.

AI-powered insights

AI insights are optional. They run only when you open Reports, pick a range, and tap Analyze with AI. AI analysis only runs when you request it.

This Week and Last Week stay as ordinary reports. Last Month can be analyzed after at least 12 completed shifts in that month. All Time can be analyzed after at least 12 completed shifts across at least three different months, with at least three of those shifts in each of those months. The AI insights guide explains which shifts qualify.

If Reports is filtered to one workplace, the analysis uses those shifts. It reads when you worked, your role, your hours, the wage stored on the shift, any tip-out you recorded, and what you kept. It can point out patterns that are hard to see one shift at a time, such as how roles or times of day compare. A result can include something to check, watch, or try, and it can also come back with no strong finding.

It does not know your section, the restaurant’s schedule, or tips you never entered. Treat it as guidance. It is not a prediction, and it is not tax advice. The AI insights guide and the Privacy Policy cover what is sent and how to read the limits.

Free, private, yours

Free to download, free to use, no ads. Wages, tip-outs, custom roles, and more than one workplace are included. There is no subscription.

You can start without an account. On iOS, Sign in with Apple or continue as a guest. On Android, Sign in with Google or continue as a guest. A guest account is temporary. Logging out deletes it and its shifts, and uninstalling before you link an account can lose that data too. An account you sign into keeps your shifts across logouts.

You can delete your data when you want to. Signed-in users use Settings → Delete Account. Guest users log out. Deletion is permanent. If the app will not open, the delete account page takes a request.

There are two ways to get a copy of what you entered:

  • Income History PDF. On Reports, Income History can save a PDF of the completed shifts you recorded for a year, a month, or a range of dates. That summary is your whole log for the period, not the workplace filter on the report behind it. It states that TrackMyTips does not provide tax or financial advice. The tips and taxes guide explains what that PDF is for.
  • Full account export. A copy of your account data is not a button in the app. Request it through in-app support or by emailing support@trackmytips.app.

Your shift and tip amounts stay in your account and are not sold for advertising. Shift data is sent for AI analysis only when you tap Analyze with AI. The Privacy Policy covers storage, analytics, and that request. Shorter answers are in the FAQ.

The shift you clock is the same record the calendar files, Reports turn into an hourly rate, and a goal can follow. AI reads that record only when you ask it to.
