Wages earned = (duration in minutes ÷ 60) × the hourly wage on the shift.

Net tips = total tips − tip-out. A blank tip-out counts as $0, which is how TrackMyTips treats a tip-out you have not recorded yet.

Total earnings = net tips + wages earned. Per hour = total earnings ÷ hours, for any duration above zero. This is the same math as hourly rate with tips. It is one shift, not a tax estimate.

This form is a single shift. Reports are the place that add several shifts: This Week, Last Week, Last Month, or All Time. A 12-minute close at $10/hour with $20 in tips and a $0 tip-out is $2.00 in wages, $22.00 total, $110.00/hour. That rate is real for those 12 minutes. It is a poor stand-in for the week until you log the longer shifts beside it.

Leave Total tip-out blank when you have not answered yet. The form treats a blank the same way the app’s earnings math does: it subtracts $0, so take-home matches gross tips. Type 0 when you know you tipped no one. Those two answers look alike in the dollar result and mean different things on the shift.

Does a shift under 30 minutes show $0.00 per hour?

No. Twelve minutes at $10/hour with $20 in tips and a $0 tip-out is $2.00 in wages, $22.00 total, and $110.00/hour. Per hour uses the full duration.

What if Total tip-out is blank?

The result subtracts $0, so net tips match total tips. In the app, a blank tip-out and a recorded $0 are different answers even though the dollars match. Type 0 when you know you tipped no one.
