Bartender tip tracker

Log each tip as an amount and an optional note. A service-well ticket and a tip left on the rail are both just amounts. Use the note if you care which was which. Add Tip accepts up to 30 amounts at once. Cash versus card is a note, not its own total.

Bartender shifts can show “Did you tip out?” after clock-out, same as Server. That prompt is for money you gave away — barbacks, runners, the house pool — entered as one Total Tip-Out in dollars. Money a server tipped out to you is the opposite: that is a tip you received, so it belongs in the tip list, not in Total Tip-Out.

The app labels a shift from the clock-in hour when you later run Analyze with AI: Morning from 5am, Afternoon from noon, Evening from 5pm, and Late Night from 10pm through the early morning. A bar that opens at 4pm and a close that starts at 10pm are different rows. This Week is never sent for that analysis. Last Week and Last Month can be, once the range has a shift, and only if you tap Analyze with AI.

A short fragment still has an hourly rate. Forty-five minutes, $10/hour, $40 in tips, and a $0 tip-out is $7.50 in wages, $47.50 total, about $63.33/hour. That is real math on a thin slice. Compare it with a full evening before you treat it as the job. The report ranges are This Week, Last Week, Last Month, and All Time.

A full close on a different wage: 6.5 hours, $12/hour, $180 in tips, $25 tipped out to barbacks. Wages are $78.00. Net tips are $155.00. Total earnings are $233.00, about $35.85/hour. Put the $25 in the tip list instead of Total Tip-Out and you are counting money you gave away as money you kept. The 45-minute fragment and this close should stay separate shifts if they were separate clocks.

A bar close often has both. On the 6.5-hour shift above, $40 of the $180 in tips was servers tipping you out. That $40 stays in the tip list. Only the $25 you handed barbacks is Total Tip-Out, which is why net tips are $155 and the rate is about $35.85/hour.

Subtract the $40 as well and you are treating income as a tip-out. Net tips fall to $115, total earnings to $193, about $29.69/hour. The Bartender wage on that shift stays $12 even if you served tables earlier at $8. Those hours belong on the Server clock-in, not inside this one.
