Expo tip tracker

Expo shifts do not show the “Did you tip out?” prompt. That prompt is for Server and Bartender. On expo, the money that usually matters is money you received: a share of the servers’ tip-out, a few dollars on a tray, a night total the closer handed you. Log those as tips. Total Tip-Out is only for dollars you gave away, and you can still enter it on an Expo shift if that happened.

Recording received tip-out as Total Tip-Out will subtract it from gross tips. The line will look tidy and the take-home will be wrong. Received money goes in Add Tip. Given money goes in Total Tip-Out.

Seven hours, $12/hour, $83.20 in tips, nothing given away. Wages are $84.00. Total earnings are $167.20. The rate is about $23.89/hour. Five and a half hours, $14/hour, $48 in tips that include what the floor tipped out to you, still with no tip-out of your own: wages are $77.00, total earnings are $125.00, about $22.73/hour.

Both nights are mostly the wage, with tips on top. Together they are 12.5 hours and $292.20, about $23.38/hour. A server section on the same Saturday should be its own clock-in if you want the role breakdown in Reports to show which hours paid. One combined shift can only wear one role.

Keep the seven-hour expo shift ($167.20, about $23.89/hour) as Expo. A four-hour server section after it, at the Server wage of $8, with $120 in tips and $30 tipped out, is its own clock-in: wages $32, net tips $90, total $122, exactly $30.50/hour.

Together that Saturday is 11 hours and $289.20, about $26.29/hour. One blended shift could wear only one role and one wage, so Reports could not show that the floor paid more per hour than the window. The server side of that habit is the server tip tracker.

Six hours at the $12 Expo wage, $60 the floor tipped out to you, nothing you gave away. Log the $60 as a tip. Wages are $72. Total earnings are $132, exactly $22.00/hour. With the seven-hour and five-and-a-half-hour shifts above, the three nights are 18.5 hours and $424.20, about $22.93/hour.

Put that $60 in Total Tip-Out instead, and record no tip. Net tips are −$60. Total earnings fall to $12, exactly $2.00/hour. The window did not get worse. The log subtracted money you received.
